Our journey
In the last few years I have been exploring media which I can have around the home and around a toddler. Acrylic paints were new to me, and started off as a trial for my students. They are a safer alternative to oil paints, which require an extra-hood, to delete the fumes..
Initially. I worked on the characters Willow and Felix, inspired by the Owl and the Pussy Cat. These characters were developed to fill my son's room with fun and colour. They have taken adventures all around the world, and were often painted on location.
More recently, I have been working on a series dedicated to my family. I have tried to capture a mood or a feeling in each work. I chose photographs from different adventures we have been on together. I paint in a figurative manner, juxtaposing this with stencilling and patterning. They are generally large scale works (100cm x 80cm). I am working towards an exhibition in Shanghai in May, 2018.
